My dreams and goals have nothing to do with my age. You have two main attributes to be successful--courage and hope. Take daily, consistent action on your goals--success is a process and a journey; not a race. Write down all the reasons Why you want to be successful and read 7 minutes in the morning when you first wake up and 7 minutes before you go to bed. Keep a vision board in front of you (pictures of what you want for your future). DISASSOCIATE with those people around you that are negative and get involved with like-minded people. Find a Mastermind group to join. DON'T LISTEN TO THE NEWS. I choose the people I want to spend time with and when I'm around a negative person that comments I will never achieve my Why, I ask them what are they doing to have a better life? Most negative people have given up on their dreams and are just marking time. The people I spend time with are between the ages of 17 and 85 and all of us are building our futures continually--there is no end to growing and doing more. My Why is to make a difference in the world with my time, talents and money and assist others to live the life of their dreams. I have a business vehicle and a teamI am building to achieve my financial and time freedom. On my journey, I am making a difference in people's lives by smiling, lifting people up by encourageing them; sharing hope. Today is the best day of my life and my life is a gift to share. I am 36 and struggling to get even a tiny part of my success. I have made a lot of money in the last few years but unfortunately have lost all of them in property investment. That was my bad experience as I have chosen bad investment and lost every thing. But what I still got is the hope and courage not to give up. I am starting everything over again from scratch but the thing that making me unrest and for which I am worried about is my AGE. Most of the people I meet, they always discourage me . They say now at this age I cannot achieve what I want. This is a real disappoint aspect in this regard. I was reading your article. I liked it and I don't know why I felt like writing what my feelings are. So here I shared those with you. If you can give me any sort of advice, I will be thankful to you more. I am telling you this, why? Because I am 51 and have only recently begun to do as my heart and soul is yearning for me to do. I have stepped out into the unknown, left the safety and respectability of my teaching profession, to follow my heart and 'do something GREAT'. I have some supporters around me, but on the whole people cannot understand why I would leave a job to do something that is not as secure. What if you fail? Why do think you have something so special to offer? What if no-one is interested in what you have to say or do? What about your retirement fund, won't that suffer? Wouldn't it be better to keep that as a hobby and stay in your job? These are the general comments that are said to me about what I am doing. Although I have a degree and was able to earn a six-figure income in my early 20s, I did not have all the cards set up in line for me. In fact, I had to overcome several obstacles that could've turned into excuses if I allowed them to including my mom being deceased at 14, my absentee father that still overpromises and underdelivers, and being in a blended family where I was constantly picked on at school. Success is not an accident and can definitely be achieved at any age if you are willing to work at it! With the current economic situation and some marketing, my business increased 341% in first half of 2008 and I am planning to hire 10 fulltime employees in the first quarter of 2009. I am also planning to open 3 additional locations in 2090. I am also planning to do seminars for people 50+ who want to start a business. In regards to acheiving at any age.
