Questions and Answers with Darren Hardy:
From Benjamin Tau: “Hey Darren I live in Australia and found about you through the ACN 2009 Anaheim convention. I was truly inspired at that event from your words of wisdom. I’m trying to implement these key lessons to my ACN Business is that good or bad?? But I have been more open to finding opportunities because I’m 19yrs old so being young I can take more risks. What are your thoughts about that?”

[DARREN HARDY] Benjamin, congratulations on your ambition, diligence to take this process seriously and for finding a great company like ACN to associate with. Direct sales is what I did at 18 years old to start making a six-figure income so you have found an excellent vehicle to help you realize your goals. And yes, when you are young with fewer responsibilities (spouse, children, etc.) you can swing for the fences and have a little more reckless abandon than those who have a family to consider. If if you go bust, the only person affected is you and you can chalk it up to the price of entrepreneurial tuition. Go for it Benjamin!! Video on the Art of Taking Risks

From Michael Wright: “Darren – seems that every time I do a “Strengths” exercise I can only uncover a list of “general strengths” – for example here is my list from this week’s exercise – “Dedicated, Efficient, Dependable, Self-Starter, Hardworking, Honest, Smart, Thorough, Research abilities, Planning”. When I go to Page 10 to list Skills #1, 2 and 3 to “Study, Practice, Develop” – how do I do this with “Honesty” and “Dependable” for example? Thanks a whole bunch!”

[DARREN HARDY] All your general strengths listed can be developed further – ex. – efficiency: how can you become more efficient? What can you deliver more of, faster, easier (with less work)? What could you study or who could you model or get advice from that is even more efficient and productive than you are? What practice could you do each day that would make you more efficient? Ex. identify your top 3 priorities and only work on those for the first 4 hours of the day. Shut your door and don’t allow distractions. Stop watch measure your time on your highest priority each day, etc.

From Renatas&Vilma: “Darren…In the OPPORTUNITY part the first two columns the “WHO” and the “WHAT”. If i write in the first column “DARREN HARDY” (e.g.) and in the second column “TO LEARN TO BE RESPONSIBLE” will that mean i understood the question correctly?”

[DARREN HARDY] The instructions on that worksheet explains (so your assumption sounds correct): Who is the very best in your field? Who do you know who has the attributes you strive to obtain? Who has the results in the areas of life you desire improvement? Write down the ‘who’ to each of these questions as well as ‘what’ they have that you want.

From Michele: “I found the scoring on the lifestyle part gave a low number that doesn’t feel accurate. For example, I don’t go to cultural events 2 times a month, but I don’t want to as that would be way too much for me. A few times a year is just right. I’m not constantly seeking adventure as that isn’t what I want from my life – sometimes, yes, but not constantly. I enjoy much of what I do on a daily basis. I don’t take 20 minutes to daydream as this activity does not yield enough benefit to warrant 20 minutes worth of time. I got a low score on this section compared to the others, but I enjoy my lifestyle a lot. Most days are a good mix of activity. It seems that the scoring is geared toward someone with different preferences than I have.”

[DARREN HARDY] Michele, the questions are a guide, ultimately it is your own view and judgment of your life and your desires for improvement in certain areas of your life that matter. Score yourself on how you see yourself now and by comparison on how you would like to see it in the future. If those questions didn’t prompt the right criteria, you are free to make your own judgments – no problem!

From Monica Wiggin: “Salutations Darren…You are practicing this model, yet I felt as I was answering the question you gave in session 3; “What three things are your competitors failing to do that are important? How can you take advantage of these mistakes?” That it was a strange question. I could look at this question from a different perspective so that it is functional, but I am curious what your intention was behind this piece?”
[DARREN HARDY] One of the best places to find opportunities is to look at the weaknesses of the 800lb gorilla in your market – where are they letting their customers down, what are they failing to do, etc.? For instance this is how Southwest found their opportunity with short stop flights when the big airlines were leaving out markets outside the major hubs. Additionally with providing friendly, hassle free, no frills service. Wal-mart chose to serve the small town markets when most retailers huddled around major urban markets. If you are employed, what are the shortcomings of those whom you will compete with for the promotion? What needs are they not fulfilling, how can you so you create your advantage?

From Nicos Elia: “When setting Goals, I seem to get confused as to what constitutes a Goal and what constitutes an action step towards achieving a Goal. If I spend too much time thinking about Goals and action steps I seem to reduce all my Goals to a single Goal with the rest being action steps towards achieving it. For Example if under Financial I set the following goals
1. become a Millionaire
2. invest 10% of my income
3. pay off my loans and credit cards
4. increase my income by 10% each year
5. invest in real estate
6. kids education fund
7. Charity
8. Retirement account
9. Relevant Reading / Self education
Arguably Goals 2 to 9 may be action steps towards achieving Goal 1.
Similarly if, under Physical, I set a Goal to be 80Kg 18% fat then joining a gym, weight training, aerobics training, balance diet, appointment with dietician, sleeping 7hrs per day, drink 8 glasses of water per day, all seem to be action steps towards achieving the 80Kg and 18% fat Goal.
To cut a long story short we can only have one Goal for each area of life the rest are action steps. Am I correct or am I lacking creativity here?”

[DARREN HARDY] A goal is a destination, an action step is a stepping stone to getting you to a destination. #1 & 3 are good goals – specific. #2 & 5 is an action step. #6-9 need more specifics. They all need a date. Re-read S.M.A.R.T.

From Chanel Sumpter: Greetings Darren! I just want to thank you first for providing this valuable resource for free. Worksheet #4 – The question regarding three people I dislike the most. I have learned how to forgive and forget and there’s no one I really dislike if I don’t care for the person I simply remove myself from being exposed to that person… Or am I just avoiding assessing my feelings? This was a question I got stumped on.

[DARREN HARDY] The question is just to get you thinking about qualities that do rise your dander. Do you like Osama Bin Laden, Hitler, Satin… not to put in same category, but Rush Limbaugh, Arianna Huffington, child predators, whale hunters, anti-enviromentalist, etc. I am just trying to find what issues you might be passionately AGAINST… you just might find your positive, making a difference in the world mission by looking at it backwards.

Worksheet # 7 SWOT – The question about what advantages I have in my network and connections to influential people. Made me realize I need to get out more and really start to build relationships with more people. Is social networking a good place to start with this?

[DARREN HARDY] If it helps you get belly to belly with more people. Real relationships happen face to face, heart to heart – not behind computer screens. Social media is good, as long as it helps you get to the real relationship work and that happens offline.

Worksheet # 7 SWOT – Brutal! What tasks do I usually avoid due to a lack of confidence? I didn’t know how to answer this one. The major problem I had am having is with the OPPORTUNITIES page 4 of the worksheet. I’m not clear how this is to be done. I drew a blank on this, any help would be appreciated.

[DARREN HARDY] For instance, I’m not a big fan of legal details or even crunching over financial numbers. In answering this question myself I realized this weakness has actually be the cause of some of the high price of tuition I have paid in some past businesses, investments and relationships. It is very important to figure out what you don’t do well, don’t like to do because you will end up avoiding it — and that could cost you – BIG TIME.

Notable Comments:
“HEY! So im new to this blog, I just signed up today, and have just spent the last 2 hours going through all the installments and links. This is really helpful!!! Im 19 yrs old and have recently decided to move away from home and go pursue my life long dreams…(for the second time..haha)…The problem the first time was that I gave none of these things thought, except for the end result, and had absolutley NO direction! This blog is coming to me at EXACTLY the right time in my life! And whats even more amazing is that i have never heard of or started reading success magazine until your january 2010 issue had come out! Now I’m hooked, can’t get enough, and am extremely greatful that there is a publication out here like this one…. thanks Darren and SUCCESS magazine!” -Catherine, DYB10 Part 4

“Darren, Thanks so much for offering this life-changing information to us for free. Unfortunately, there will be many who will not take advantage of it. It will definitely be their loss! I decided to begin my daily journal this year with the entry “Today I am thankful for:” and list all the things I am/was thankful for that day. Sometimes I say that I am thankful for frustrating days because it helps me appreciate the days when things go smoothly. I am excited for this journey…I have discovered things about myself that I don’t particularly like and this is as good a time as any to change those things. I love SUCCESS magazine and the inspiring articles. I am 46 and wish I would have had this information sooner, but maybe I wouldn’t have been ready for it like I am now. Thanks!” –Gaylene, DYB10 Part 4

“Being notified of posts is another motivating factor to stick with this. I receive emails on my phone as comments are posted, I schedule time to read them twice a day, that way I stay motivated and know that generally we are all facing similar challenges, no matter of where each one of is coming from. Thank you All!” –Nicos Elia, DYB10 Part 4

“Build my life plan before my business plan? OF COURSE! GENIUS CONNECTION.” –J.R., DYB10 Part 4

“Darren, I have just completed the second week of the 8 week program. It has been a real wake-up call. After writing my obituary and epitaph, I turned to my husband and said, “I don’t even know who I am.” I have spent so much time defining my existence through my roles of wife, mom, teacher, that I don’t know me anymore. I love my family, I love being a teacher, but I need to love ME. I am 43, and sometimes feel like I am running out of time to reach my goals. I recently started a home-based business and I want to LIVE everyday so that the business can be my vehicle for reaching those goals. You and the other bloggers have helped me to realize that it is not too late and that by actually living everyday (by planning!) the achievement of goals is inevitable I look forward to the next 6 weeks! Thank you to everyone for your input and support.” –Jodie, DYB10 Part 4

“This weeks lesson about balance has been invaluable. In the past, I have always focused on 1 part of my life and found success there to only turn around and realized that the other parts of my life were falling apart. As I went through the worksheet, the questions forced me to be much more introspective and brought to light issues that I have been completely ignoring. I have always been good about making plans and setting goals, just not always good about completing them. They say, you can’t make a plan for where you are going if you don’t know where you are. I now know where I am and I’m looking forward to planning a future that leads to a balanced and successful life. Thanks Darren.” –Shane, DYB10 Part 4

“I’ve been working the program, answering the questions and having discussions with my children as I go through the process. It’s fun (and hard sometimes). One of the neatest results from the process thus far is that I ordered the Success for Teens book with the CD and we’ve been listening to it as we drive around. It leads us into conversations I would probably not have had with my children. I see my 14 year old boy reading the book in chunks. I can see a vision for them I haven’t seen before. I can see them learning the skills now and benefiting from them NOW, whether it’s basketball, schoolwork, church calling, etc. Thank You!” –Kathy T., DYB10 Video Update 2

“Worksheet set 3 has been the most challenging for me to date. It’s been almost painful to confront my weaknesses head on. I invited three colleagues to complete the 360 view — and they weren’t hesitant about being honest! It hasn’t given me much room to hide or ignore my shortcomings. Painful as it may be, I know it’s a good process. I know I will never be able to overcome my weaknesses until I’m willing to honestly confront them. At the same time, identifying opportunities has given me some new and beneficial ideas for dealing with my challenges. Thank you so much for making this available, Darren. It has been a very worthwhile activity, something I’ve needed for a long time!” –Dave, DYB10 Video Update 2

“Thank you, Darren and your team, for providing these great tools. I guess it has to hit each person when they are ready for it, but there has been too much of same old same old for me. Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results – I don’t think so! So do I really want to change? YES! I’m excited to see where this will lead. Getting my why clear enough to motivate me no matter what is huge. I know it sounds ridiculous, but in the past I’ve felt selfish by naming and working for something that sounds like its for me. And I’ve had a lifetime of “don’t you dare dream too big, because you’ll just be disappointed.” Well, sorry folks! Its time for a change. In the end, it isn’t really about me at all.. it is about serving at my highest level. BTW.. I turned 60 this month and it looks like the next 60 will be a blast! May the blessings flow to many, from everyone going through this workshop.” –Jim, DYB10 Part 5

Kim Neal: Thank you for clarifying on your Video on Friday that there are some of us who do not own a business or even work…but these questions are meant to be thought provoking and get us to think in a new way…I knew that deep down but I am so hard on myself as it is..that I guess I needed to hear that…to just get a new thought process going…. Thanks!!

It was good to see this week’s video. I was intent and committed to go through your program and stay on pace. But life does get in the way. I am going through a divorce which is in its final stages yet a couple of weeks ago (actually the week of New Year’s) my soon to be exwife got sick and I have been caring for her. All the while starting a new career and studying for a major licensing exam as well as parenting my teenage son.

So knowing that I can still catch up and go through this opportunity that you have offered so generously encourges me to move forward. Thank You!

[DARREN HARDY] Luckily for you, there is no expiration date on the program, Miguel. Just save the emails and PDFs and you can complete the program when you have enough time to fully commit to it. Just be careful not to let too much time pass, the sooner you complete it, the sooner the next 10 years of your life can begin!

I was doing great with this until I got to the worksheet with all the questions about business. It seems like a good majority of this project is related to business or one’s “field”.

Well, see, here’s the problem: I’m not employed, so the job questions don’t apply (and I haven’t had a boss since 2002). I have no business. I’m not interested in going back to my previous field so those questions don’t apply.

In fact, the biggest problem I have is that I have no idea WHAT my next field is! That’s why I wanted to do this, to figure out what my field is. Spiritually, mentally, I’m great. I could use help with family and relationship areas, but they aren’t as urgent to me as finding my next career because the money I’ve been living off of likely won’t last forever. What I need most is a way to unblock the dream, and get on track with a field I’ll love and that will be quite lucrative.

So, what do I do with all those unanswerable questions?

[DARREN HARDY] Hi Jeanne! The questions are there to prod your mind. If some don’t apply, not to worry–skip those. The end result of each worksheet is what we are after. Pay particular attention to SWOT worksheet to help you align your next project with what you love to do, are good at and can be the best in the market at. Make sure what strengths or avoidance issues you might have are also covered and are not the constraints holding you back. Do the 360 Review as well – there might be some great insights others could share you might not be fully aware of or had thought of.

    Darren,
I haven’t put pen to paper as of yet with your amazing program and was just beginning to think about rescheduling the start for next quarter. I saw your email this evening and decided to open it even though I’m three weeks behind. Low and behold: You spoke to me! Thank you for being a great, non judgemental leader; encouraging me to get on track regardless of all “the stuff”. I sometimes can be very hard on myself and feel guilty for not accomplishing all that I set out to do. This leads to wasted energy on a downward path to regret – so thanks for the lifeline and the suggestion of carving out 3 hours this weekend to catch up. I think I love you! lol

Taking this course has made me really look at my life and what I always wanted to do but was scared to try. To me, it is still hard to look into the future. That old fear starts to rear it’s ugly head: Can I really have that? Can I really do this?

I am not going to let fear stop me this time. I am fighting through it by listening to Jim Rohn and learning that I am worth the time to work on. A couple very good opportunities has opened up for me since I started this class and listening to personal development material. I refuse to let fear stop me!

I am sure there are others out there feeling the same way I do. Low self-esteem, always 2nd guessing yourself, letting time slip by and not working on the worksheets. I just want you to know that I’m with you and understand. And if I can do this, I know you can too.

Let’s not let ANYTHING stand in the way to our goals and our lives.

A very good business friend has referred me to this site, as well as challenged me to join in the weekly program.

Since this is the first night for me I will have to spend the weekend getting caught up on everything, but what I have read so far is extremely intriguing and has me quite anxious to learn more.

[DARREN HARDY] Glad to have you join us, Renee! Be sure to keep us posted on your progress along the way.

    Hello Darren,

I’ve set some pretty lofty goals for myself for 2010. I’m excited about this course becasue it should help me to stay focused. I’m truly excited because my wife and I will be taking the couse together. I”ve emailed this out to approximately 100 of my choicest friends and business partners. It’s a great tool for us to hone our skills to be successful in life and business. Thanks again for your generosity, expertise and caring heart. Looking forward to getting the ‘hard’ work done with the work sheets and the ‘self-develoopment’ growth that will come from it.

    Peace!

[DARREN HARDY] Wow, thanks so much for sharing this program with so many of your friends and partners. They will probably be thanking you immensely in the next 10 years, kudos to you! :)

Hi Darren & Every One who is taking the time to do this Goal Setting

Interesting week, back to work with a few days inbetween as we still have school holidays till next week.

This is how i get around doing my part in all of this. GOAL SETTING STUFF !

Late evenings is always good , when most of the house has dropped off to sleep on the couch or gone to bed, gives me about an hour to sit quietly, with the puppies or cat to figure out these questions .

I also work full time , as a designer, on CAD, the current position i have is a very stressfull one, and some times i wonder why i have done this for the last 30 years, may be i climbed the wrong ladder at the time, but thats not how it happened back then, when you left school, you were pointed in a direction of you interests and talents at school , and a trade or skill was your direction, how times have changed.
Any way to get back on track…. during the working day, i eat my light lunch while working !, easy… then i take my break, and go for a 15-20 min walk , fresh air, exercise. clean out your mind from, those who try to steal your day !
Then i spend 25min or so in the local Library ! WHY…easy, its quiet, plenty of desks, and you can sit there and spill out every thing on paper, with no one to stop your thoughts ! This is a great place its relaxing, quiet and you can focus, on all that you need to get down.

Its your time, spend it in a positive way, goals setting, and de-stress, you might be suprised , how much you can get done in a half hour.

TRY it a couple of times, its easy to do, and its easy not to do !!!!

( who did i hear that from , mmmmm oh Yeah Jim Rohn, he sits on my shoulder every day giving me directions , do this , don’t do that ! it will take you down the wrong road, if i had only found out about him earlier in life, how it would have made a huge difference. )

And it makes you feel that much better about your day…

The afternoon goes that much faster, when you go back to the office refreshed.

Now all i have to do is figure out my escape from the place !!!! mmmmm

Yes i know set some more goals !

    Make it a Great Weekend

Cheers from Howick Auckland New Zealand.

    Hey Darren (fellow Goal Setters),

I hope all is going well with you and your family!

Just a quite note to first say ‘THANK YOU’ for the Designing the Best 10 Years of your Life 8 week program. I actually bought the book last January and started to get into it and LIFE HAPPENED AGAIN!!! So I do appreciate do the program over the 8 weeks together.

But LIFE IS HAPPENING AGAIN. I am behind at this point but I am getting up early tomorrow to get out of the house by myself to focus on the work sheets so far. I really need to schedule a specific time to work on it each day then to spend hours on the weekend catching up!

When I focus on something I am very successful at achieving it. But I am also very good at PROCRASTINATING which can be a problem.

Anyways, I would like to pass on a BIG THANK YOU for all your effort and support you are giving to us all. And I really appreciate the weekly videos to go over some of the material, the questions and the encouragement you give.

You are a great example to us all Darren! And you will be blessed in many way for all that you do!!!

Have a great day everyone and a successful week ahead!!!

    Michael

[DARREN HARDY] Keep pushing through, Michael, so you don’t waste another minute let alone another year! Just remember to SCHEDULE the time, distraction free, and you will find SUCCESS!

Darren, Thanks for this series– this is really great stuff! Having a structured process has helped me to poke around in areas I might usually avoid in my yearly goal setting. I actually have been setting goals for some time, and have been blessed with quite a bit of success. I thought this series would therefore be fairly easy to do. However, even with a good baseline, I am spending closer to six hours per week working through the exercises. That’s OK– just wanted to spread the word that this might take some people 2 or 3 times as long as billed to complete. I believe there is great value to do the work with significant thought and effort.

Thanks again for all your effort! MikeO

Darren, you are a great inspiration. I’m following your program very diligently and enjoy the videos. I just turned 41 today and for some reason wondered if it’s just “too late” to really find my purpose and achieve my goals. I look back 10 years ago and realize I would of changed some things, and let some things remain. Looking ahead 10 years, I am trying to realize what needs to be changed, while holding onto what doesn’t.

I guess it is NEVER too late to “Reach for The Stars” regardless of any age…

    Thanks again.

    Kevin

[DARREN HARDY] You are right, Kevin! I’s NEVER too late to plan the best the possible you for the future. You will have many more “next 10 years” ahead so instead of looking back on them with regret, why not look forward and PLAN them greatly! :)

  14. K. G. says:

OK, Darren, I was with you up until the Magic Factor. Although I have a naturally strong work ethic and standard for quality in all I do, I seem to be bumping up against a similarly strong resistance against re-creating myself into a high performance machine. I’ve been there before, and am not itching to go back at this point. Yes, I have goals and every intention of maintaining healthy habits on all fronts, but I have no desire to get up at 5am, take on all sorts of new projects, and transform myself back into a schedule-driven maniac. All around me, I see people who are so busy they can’t relax and enjoy life, unless they’ve learned to specifically carve out off-time. I really value having the freedom to “goof off” whenever I want, just as I work whenever I want. And without a powerful “big why” pulling me to another place, I find that I’m having a tough time with this step. What now? Thanks for all you do, mate.

[DARREN HARDY] Your goals are YOUR goals, not mine. You determine your core values in life. To me, life is about growing, learning, expanding, doing the most with what I have been giving, contributing, helping, sharing, etc.–that is what gives me “juice” in life. Mostly I’d rather be building, growing and “working” than laying on a beach. You have to figure out what gives you juice. If goofing off is what it is then set your goals to support how you can gain even more time doing that and still have the abundance you desire for yourself and your family.

This process has been really interesting up to this point. I seem to have an issue with over-analyzing things and taking longer than I should to complete the worksheets. I did note those things in the SWOT portion. I really have a strong desire to become a better, more effective person, but I seem to do all kinds of thinking and not enough doing. What do you think is the best way to gain confidence in my self and get more action-oriented?

[DARREN HARDY] Nietzsche said, “Do the thing and you will have the power”. The power will be gained by doing. Take action, then more action, then more and more and more… and eventually you will get better and better and… the confidence will build and you will be what you want. Thinking idly will not. Go DO… that is my best advice. Don’t over think it, just do it.

How many goals should you work on at a time?

[DARREN HARDY] It is why I help you boil it down to the top 3. Three is my answer, others might suggest otherwise, three is mine.

  18. Tracy says:

Hi Darren – I want to say thank you for your tools – the last few stages have particularly helped us get past a step that we would typically fall backwards. Creating goals was never a problem – killing myself and everyone so I burned out was a problem for my marriage & my life. So keeping this focused on the 3 BIG but specific goals allows me to filter all the stuff that would kill the dream.

All in all – the tools have been particularly helpful this week – we completed a huge task – in the past I would sabotage the success. I would not take in the goal and appreciate myself for getting there. I would mess it up so I would have to start again. I did not this week – Friday came – the goal was completed – I hit the target and I was very proud of myself. We had dinner with a friend – I followed our financial goal – still celebrated – I than rewarded myself – still staying par to the course. By staying focused- I than saw that many other things were being accomplished the goal snowball.

We get it – the ah ha moment came on when we took all these goals – dreams – all these tasks now and in ten years – our integrity – our strengths and applied it to the mix. The plan is solid – and the simple “tweaking” that needs to be done – once it turns into a new positive habit – you add another.

Thank you – It is really nice to sit with the man of my dreams and build the next ten years together. We share our dreams, our goals , I learned so much about Jim in the last few days – this takes date nite to a new level.

    Gratitude

[DARREN HARDY] Glad to hear of your awesome breakthrough! And even more glad that you are sharing this with the man of you dreams. Makes all the difference in the world when you are on the same page, doesn’t it? Thanks for sharing, Tracy!

I was happy with all what I accomplish in the past 10 years and who I became…until these two assignment!
I found a huge gap between who I am today and what I where I want to be and what it take! Huge Eye opening and scary. I guess this year will be a big ‘Hinge’ or ‘turn’.
I feel like facing a huge ‘precipice’ or canyon, and having to jump on the over side!
I guess that’s what we call a big leap!

Darren, thanks again for this oportunity, as I go throught the exercises I’m excitied to plan my next ten years, I turn 60 in Feb, and I have noticed a few other people in that age group that are going through the same period in thier life.
As I move out of the false satey of Corportate life and looking forward to starting my own business this process is the best I’ve have ever found, thanks

I would like to connect with people in similar situations , do you suggest any ways that may be helpfull for all? thanks

    Darren,

I appreciate your comments to those who may be behind, like me. I will just be getting started this weekend, though I have been printing everything and looking at the video updates.

When this started I had too much on my plate between my job and some things I am involved in at church. I am in the midst of doing a play there, as well as weekly skits for a children’s ministry that I am a part of. So I knew I had to wait until things settled down a bit before jumping in.

I’ll actually get going this saturday and really look forward to it all. Since I live alone, I don’t have to leave the house. The pc won’t be on, though I will play some jazz in the background as I work.

I also decided to make a copy of everything so that I can share it down the road with someone I’ve yet to meet who could benefit from this exercise.

I ache to reach for greater heights and this exercise is right on time. One thing I know already is that I have to strive for a better balance among the various things I am involved in. I see that that is one of the topics you address and look forward to your perspective on that issue.

If I am ever to be married as I hope to be, I have to create time to develop a relationship that could grow into that.

I’ll stop here, and log in on Monday to let you know how the weekend went.

Thanks so much for this. I really need it!

[DARREN HARDY] Looking forward to your thoughts on Monday, Robert!

I have heard that “writing” your goals out instead of “typing” is better. Is there any validity to this? I much prefer to type as probably most do but I don’t want to hinder myself either. Thanks.

[DARREN HARDY] LOL! That is funny. Whatever… just get them out of your head and down on paper – real or virtual!

Thank you again Darren with the program. I am going through this program in additio to buying “your best year ever”. I’m am having trouble with coming up with a BHAG outside of weight and finances, do you have examples? More importantly,do you have a example of what you do in week to week section? I feel like I’m to general in my actions/tasks.
I really want to get this right.

    Thank you Anthony

P.S. Are you speaking anywhere this year? Conducting a class?

[DARREN HARDY] 1- Thanks for buying the book! 2- Your BHAG is your BHAG, something you have to decide. Ex. One of mine is my own successful and insanely profitable national TV show- that’s a Big Hairy Audacious Goal! 3- More info on weekly execution in upcoming installments.

    Darren-

Hello. I started reading Success six months ago because I was looking for a motivational magazine to help me
because I am going through a divorce. I found myself glued to your publication and at that moment I felt has if
I was not the only out there looking to make changes.

I started this course and have found it difficult because of looking hard at the past ten years along with trying to figure out
what I want for the next ten years. I have ideas and now have establish goals but, I always feel like I stay in that position and never
move forward. My question is do I just jump in and start doing my ideas and goals and adjust has I move forward? How do you take that first step to move forward? Thank you.

    Roland

[DARREN HARDY] Yes, jump in and use the plan of action and next weeks Achievement Management System to get you started and guide you along the way.

Getting so much out of your program. I feel a bit frustrated trying to access the links to the archives. I click on the link that came with email but it goes to blog site and says ‘nothing found’. I tried to resign up at blog site and Feedburner says my email address is already registered. Help! I have not experienced any problems downloading the forms and worksheets prior to #7. Would love to have this latest edition – what am I not seeing?

[DARREN HARDY] Sorry Linda! We had a glitch with the link but everything is working now! Go ahead and use the link (http://darrenhardy.success.com/about/challenge-worksheets/) and password and you should be able to access everything as instructed in the email. Thanks for your patience!!!

    Darren,

I am really enjoying this and has helped me to see myself and I recommend this to anyone I know.

The problem I am having and have been no matter what I try to do is finding my passion, so I know what I should be doing.Growing up I was always told I wouldn’t become anything, I didn’t have what it takes for being a CEO, etc. I have tried and failed at things I attempted. Both from what I thought was it and deliberately doing opposite I was told by family. I am not getting younger and need to score that touchdown. What can I do to help me find my passion? So I can be on the right course.

[DARREN HARDY] Robert, I have been asked this many times and here is my answer as it pertains to this program: Pay particular attention to SWOT worksheet to help you align your next project with what you love to do, are good at and can be the best in the market at. Make sure what strengths or avoidance issues you might have are also covered and are not the constraints holding you back. Pay attention to the 360 Review as well – there might be some great insights others could share you might not be fully aware of or had thought of.

Hello Robert. Hang in there Brother. I have literally started and failed in 5 businesses and people have asked me why I actually believe I can have a successful business? My answer is because I have not given up. I’m not to good at math but it looks like I have well over 9000 more failures to go before I catch Thomas Edison, our nations greatest inventor.

Anyway, my advice is simple. Decide what you love to do and figure out a way to do or improve on something that already exists. Ie: I finally decided that my passion is fitness. So what do I do? There are already many huge fitness center franchises. I came up with an idea that I am working on to build a very unique fitness businesses that addresses individuals specific needs. I know that I will succeed because I refuse to give up. Darren’s 10 year plan is a tool I am using to help me get there.

    I hope this helps somewhat.

    God Bless,
    Doug

[DARREN HARDY] Doug, thanks for sharing your experience and words of encouragement! What great support we have going on here! LOVE it! :)

I am really enjoying this program and look forward to working through this process, thank you! The worksheet on designing SMART goals is really helpful and I see that goals need to be measurable, attainable, and time sensitive. To me, my most relevant goal for myself for 2010 is to be more open with myself and others… I know this is what I need and what I want, but I am not sure how to make that into a SMART goal. How do you really measure that? Or should I rework my goal? Any suggestions?

[DARREN HARDY] What does “open with yourself and others” look like. How would we know you are or aren’t? What are the visible and measurable effects of that description? Why do you want that? What will be the benefit and outcome of being that way? Maybe the ultimate outcome of being that way is what your goal really is. Keep asking yourself “why” when you write down your goal. Ex. I want to be more open with others. Why? So I can endear trust and confidence in others. Why? So I can be a more effective leader. Why? So I can help others improve themselves and better their lives. Why? So I can build a bigger business and stronger family, better friendships, etc. Now we are getting somewhere…

I am enjoying the series and have been able to stay with the program. The only thing is that I cannot seem to access your video either at work or at home. Normally, I can view videos on your site, but can’t seem to get the ones for this program to work. Any suggestions?

[MAGGIE SCOTT] Hi Stephanie! I’m not sure what exact issue you may be having but most likely it is a buffering issue. I recommend loading the page with the video but pausing it for a bit to let the stream buffer. After a few minutes of load time, then try watching the video. Hopefully this helps!

  34. Just about all of the things you say is astonishingly precise and it makes me ponder the reason why I hadn’t looked at this in this light previously. This article really did switch the light on for me as far as this issue goes. However at this time there is actually one particular factor I am not too comfy with and while I make an effort to reconcile that with the actual main theme of your issue, permit me observe what all the rest of the subscribers have to say.Nicely done.
