Video Update from Darren Hardy–End of Week 4

A VIDEO MESSAGE FROM DARREN HARDY:

Here’s a summary of week four in our journey towards Designing the Best 10 Years of Your Life where I answer your questions and give you a course update.

I’ve also selected some of your questions and observations left in the comments sections along with some of my responses. I hope you find it helpful to peruse through the common questions and insights shared by others experiencing the process along with you.

Please watch the video:

Questions and Answers with Darren Hardy

From Jodi Renee:
Can a Core Value be something that is VERY important to you and that you want, but at the moment do not have? ie. confidence? It comes up everywhere for me but it’s something I lack…”

[DARREN HARDY] Yes and probably why you haven’t gotten the results you have been looking for. Good thing you have got your finger on this now!

From Laura B: “I have just completed the Worksheet #7. I have a question for you, Darren. I just started a new Full-time job on Monday, January 18, after being a stay-at-home mom for almost 2 years. A few of the questions I did not feel pertained to me at this time. For instance, “What are the existing problems your industry faces?” How long do you feel is enough time for me to allow to pass before answering these questions? When should I revisit this Worksheet to complete this process? Thank you in advance for your advice and opinion!!”

[DARREN HARDY] If a question doesn’t apply to you, skip it. The questions are there to prompt you from a variety of vantage points. If a vantage point doesn’t apply to your particular situation, move onto the next one that does.

From Kevin McEwen: “This is an amazing process that you are taking us through. The facets of the Goal setting puzzled me a little…Ie, I incoporate spirituality into Lifestyle, and family into relationships (for the most part) and have done so for years in my goal setting. Although, admittedly, haven’t done as good a job at achieving goals as I have of setting them. So I guess my question is, just how important do you think the specific segments are ?Thanks again for this process and your guidance”

[DARREN HARDY] That is a question you have to answer. The process is a guide, adjust as you see fit. If spirituality by itself is not important or you interpret it as lifestyle, that is OK. If you want to break out relationships from family, OK too. Go with what works for YOU.

From Mark: “Hi Darren, I am really enjoying this process and am finding each step very enlightening. Thank you for providing this opportunity to everyone that takes the time to do the work.
I am a bit confused though with one thing on the Grand Design worksheets, and hope that you can help me understand it better. In the guidelines section you ask that we “Suspend Reality” and “Think Big” when writing down our goals. Then in the SMART section you teach that we should take our head out of the clouds and make the goal Attainable, which causes me to go right back to setting the same old regular goals that I usually set that have kept me in the place I currently find myself. Could you help me understand what I am missing in these instructions please?”

[DARREN HARDY] Yes, it is meant to challenge you both ways. I want you to free flow with no limitations just to see what comes out of you. But then when it comes time to decide on what you are going to go for it is important to set reasonable timelines to make reasonable progress in the realization of what might be a BIG goal. The big goal however can’t be so big that even your inner self knows it is outlandish and will keep you from even trying, really. It is a balancing act. Take your BIG goal and break it down to the steps and achievements that need to be made to add up to your big goal. For instance, let’s say it is to make a million dollars this year. When you break that down to how much you need to earn each quarter, each month, each week and each day, you then have to ask yourself if you have the ability to do that. If not, then an unrealistic goal. If it is to write a book in a year, break it down and you might find you only have to write one sentence every 15 minutes. That is something you can do… even though the idea of writing a 300 page book sounds outrageous and daunting.

From Ken Saveth: “So far, this program has been a real eye opener for me & allowed me to be really introspective of my life, my actions & my place in life at this moment. Thank you for this. In the Worksheet 5 download, there is a “Wheel of Life” for us to complete but no instructions as to what scale to use. What are we supposed to do here? The earlier one had a scale to use.”

[DARREN HARDY] Simply evaluate your quantity and size of the goals in each area of your life and rate the emphasis on the Wheel and see if you are “rounded”

From Jeanne B.: Well, see, here’s the problem: I’m not employed, so the job questions don’t apply (and I haven’t had a boss since 2002). I have no business. I’m not interested in going back to my previous field so those questions don’t apply. In fact, the biggest problem I have is that I have no idea WHAT my next field is! That’s why I wanted to do this, to figure out what my field is. Spiritually, mentally, I’m great. I could use help with family and relationship areas, but they aren’t as urgent to me as finding my next career because the money I’ve been living off of likely won’t last forever. What I need most is a way to unblock the dream, and get on track with a field I’ll love and that will be quite lucrative.

[DARREN HARDY] Hi Jeanne! The questions are there to prod your mind. If some don’t apply, not to worry–skip those. The end result of each worksheet is what we are after. Pay particular attention to SWOT worksheet to help you align your next project with what you love to do, are good at and can be the best in the market at. Make sure what strengths or avoidance issues you might have are also covered and are not the constraints holding you back. Do the 360 Review as well – there might be some great insights others could share you might not be fully aware of or had thought of.

From Renatas&Vilma: “I need your help with the TOP TEN GOALS. Should i pick one most important goal in each part of the wheel of life. Or should i pick all 10 financial goals if they mostly fit my mission and my core values? Thank you”

[DARREN HARDY] Pick the goals that are most important to you, but be sure you don’t sacrifice the rest of your life (and priorities) for the sake of only one area of your life. Be focused and balanced. Tricky? Yes, but so is life.

From K. G.: “OK, Darren, I was with you up until the Magic Factor. Although I have a naturally strong work ethic and standard for quality in all I do, I seem to be bumping up against a similarly strong resistance against re-creating myself into a high performance machine. I’ve been there before, and am not itching to go back at this point. Yes, I have goals and every intention of maintaining healthy habits on all fronts, but I have no desire to get up at 5am, take on all sorts of new projects, and transform myself back into a schedule-driven maniac. All around me, I see people who are so busy they can’t relax and enjoy life, unless they’ve learned to specifically carve out off-time. I really value having the freedom to “goof off” whenever I want, just as I work whenever I want. And without a powerful “big why” pulling me to another place, I find that I’m having a tough time with this step. What now? Thanks for all you do, mate.”

[DARREN HARDY] Your goals are YOUR goals, not mine. You determine your core values in life. To me, life is about growing, learning, expanding, doing the most with what I have been giving, contributing, helping, sharing, etc.–that is what gives me “juice” in life. Mostly I’d rather be building, growing and “working” than laying on a beach. You have to figure out what gives you juice. If goofing off is what it is then set your goals to support how you can gain even more time doing that and still have the abundance you desire for yourself and your family.

From Jackie: “Darren, I am a little stuck on Worksheet 10. When I read the example that you had included for “Who I Need To Become”, I found that the majority are qualities I need to be and do to accomplish what I want to accomplish, ie my goals. But where I get stuck is that I am finding that the same qualities apply to all my goals. All the goals that I need to accomplish require that I am all those same qualities in order to accomplish any of my goals. Does this make sense? Is that possible? or perhaps I am missing something?

[DARREN HARDY] It is possible, at the same time I would challenge you to dig a little deeper into the specifics of who you need to become and how that person shows up. For instance, I have a relationship goal and a financial goal and a fitness goal. Some qualities are the same – a person of integrity, commitment, determination, etc. But some are different – affectionate, non-judgmental/accepting, servitude, masterful orator, intense, regimented, etc. The qualities and attributes I need to be are different for different goals and outcomes. Dig into more specifics of the behavior, disciplines, habits and character you need to cultivate for each goal.

From Justin B.: “This process has been really interesting up to this point. I seem to have an issue with over-analyzing things and taking longer than I should to complete the worksheets. I did note those things in the SWOT portion. I really have a strong desire to become a better, more effective person, but I seem to do all kinds of thinking and not enough doing. What do you think is the best way to gain confidence in myself and get more action-oriented?”

[DARREN HARDY] Nietzsche said, “Do the thing and you will have the power”. The power will be gained by doing. Take action, then more action, then more and more and more… and eventually you will get better and better and… the confidence will build and you will be what you want. Thinking idly will not. Go DO… that is my best advice. Don’t over think it, just do it.

From John Richards: “How many goals should you work on at a time?”

[DARREN HARDY] It is why I help you boil it down to the top 3. Three is my answer, others might suggest otherwise, three is mine.

From Anthony: “Thank you again Darren with the program. I am going through this program in addition to buying “your best year ever”. I’m having trouble with coming up with a BHAG outside of weight and finances, do you have examples? More importantly, do you have an example of what you do in week to week section? I feel like I’m to general in my actions/tasks. I really want to get this right.”

[DARREN HARDY] 1- Thanks for buying the book! 2- Your BHAG is your BHAG, something you have to decide. Ex. One of mine is my own successful and insanely profitable national TV show- that’s a Big Hairy Audacious Goal! 3- More info on weekly execution in upcoming installments.

From Roland: “I started this course and have found it difficult because of looking hard at the past ten years along with trying to figure out what I want for the next ten years. I have ideas and now have establish goals but, I always feel like I stay in that position and never move forward. My question is do I just jump in and start doing my ideas and goals and adjust has I move forward? How do you take that first step to move forward? Thank you.”

[DARREN HARDY] Yes, jump in and use the plan of action and next weeks’ Achievement Management System to get you started and guide you along the way.

From JBA: “Darren, thank you for opening up this type of learning forum; I have been challenged by the worksheets in every area of my life. I have been challenged to look at myself in a new light. Here is my issue: I know I have great qualities, I know that I am intelligent, beautiful, etc…; but it has been hard for me to use these attributes to further myself in my career. How do I do authentically? I am ready to move to the next level but how do I catapult myself there?”

[DARREN HARDY] Who you need to become and the actions you need to take should become apparent by end of this week… and additionally supported next week.

From D Van Driel: “Darren, thanks again for this opportunity, as I go through the exercises I’m excited to plan my next ten years, I turn 60 in Feb, and I have noticed a few other people in that age group that are going through the same period in their life.
As I move out of the false safety of corporate life and looking forward to starting my own business this process is the best I’ve have ever found, thanks. I would like to connect with people in similar situations; do you suggest any ways that may be helpful for all? Thanks”

[DARREN HARDY] They are all here on this blog and on SUCCESS.com. We focus on supporting, inspiring and empowering the small business entrepreneur so there isn’t anywhere I know better than right here.

Notable Comments

“Hi Darren – I want to say thank you for your tools – the last few stages have particularly helped us get past a step that we would typically fall backwards. Creating goals was never a problem – killing myself and everyone so I burned out was a problem for my marriage & my life. So keeping this focused on the 3 BIG but specific goals allows me to filter all the stuff that would kill the dream. All in all – the tools have been particularly helpful this week – we completed a huge task – in the past I would sabotage the success. I would not take in the goal and appreciate myself for getting there. I would mess it up so I would have to start again. I did not this week – Friday came – the goal was completed – I hit the target and I was very proud of myself. We had dinner with a friend – I followed our financial goal – still celebrated – I than rewarded myself – still staying par to the course. By staying focused- I than saw that many other things were being accomplished the goal snowball. We get it – the ah ha moment came on when we took all these goals – dreams – all these tasks now and in ten years – our integrity – our strengths and applied it to the mix. The plan is solid – and the simple “tweaking” that needs to be done – once it turns into a new positive habit – you add another. Thank you – It is really nice to sit with the man of my dreams and build the next ten years together. We share our dreams, our goals , I learned so much about Jim in the last few days – this takes date nite to a new level. Gratitude” -Tracy, DYB10 Video Update, Week 3

“My biggest problem is that I like the idea of doing everything if you know what I mean. I feel as though I have an entrepreneurial mind-set but its like I hear and think about all these great/cool/fun ideas that I would love to bring to life but I never act on them (up until now that is). The Grand Design part of this series helped me to focus on my top priorities and harness my imagination. One of the things that I will be working on is brainstorming, writing down all my ideas and choosing the top few or one that I feel has the best potential. There’s so much (success) that I would like to get my hands on and bring into my life and along the way to give and help others achieve the same! Oh I can’t wait!!” -Keith, DYB10 Part 7

“Hello Darren, Finally, I caught up. I joined last week, but I have done all my homework. The 360 view was very helpful, although it caused mixed reactions. One of the answers from a friend was “WHY are you asking me these questions?” I explained, but never got an answer. Anyways, I learned something from that too. I have never done anything with enough passion and I have invested a lot of time trying to “find” my passion/purpose in life. I’m 43. I wrote as my top goal: to live my passion, give purpose to my life and make a living at it. I can’t stand working at something that is not fulfilling. I had troubles trying to be S.M.A.R.T. with that one. One behavior I have to change to achieve this goal is to stop trying to solve my problems going solo and start surrounding myself with motivating, supportive and like-minded people. I found hope and inspiration in Success magazine and this program. Thank you Darren!” –Daniel Guzman, DYB10 Part 6

“Thank you, I am so moved by all the comments, and it is also empowering. This is a real challenge with myself, and I don’t feel alone. This sharing is very inspiring! Thank you all of you for being so open and sharing your thoughts in such a personal process, it’s helping me to keep going and play it big! Darren, you definitely deserve all these great comments. Just another manifestation for me! As I was looking for a mentor! Here you are! The magic factor continue! I just begun a ‘Manifestation list’ today, to acknowledge what I desired in my life. It doesn’t always appear the way I expected it, but it’s manifesting! I am very grateful. Thank you!” –Nathalie Bonnard-Grenet, DYB10 Part 6

“Finally I think I am beginning to learn what life is all about. OTHERS! I don’t think I have ever been happier than taking the focus off myself and offering encouragement and motivation to others. To see them encouraged and helped has helped to create a self confidence within, a challenge that I have dealt with all my life. The more I give to others, whether it’s time, money, etc., the more I can see myself growing and developing a new confidence within. Thanks for this article as it confirms the way to happiness!!” –Nelda Thompson, DYB10 Part 7

“It sounds like Shane is telling my story. I get so excited when I am encouraging others to accomplish their dreams and goals. This have been my strengths throughout my life. I just get stuck when it comes to encouraging me. My thoughts tend to wonder after a while. I am learning to become the type of person I want to attract. Success Magazine has been amazing, still one on one support would help even more. I put procrastination in my past. It’s just not back far enough. If I was working with someone who had my issues, I would suggest a daily schedule and have them check off the things they have accomplished at the end of each day, rewrite the unfinished things on the schedule for the next day. Why can’t I follow through with my own advice? I am tired of leading from behind. I too could use a partner. Ten years from now, I would like to look back and say to myself, “Job well done.” I AM COMMITTED to the next ten yrs the very best!” –Yvonne Green-EL, DYB10 Part 7

“Thank you Darren for this awesome course you have put together for us. I just want to offer encouragement to the person who may read this. Success is right around the corner and sometimes if you just push that one extra minute, second, thought, word, or decision this is what makes results. We often don’t go the extra mile or take the road less traveled because of more work we see ahead. But it takes steam to power a train and a made up mind to get what you want out of life. So my thoughts to you is live life without limits. Take off the chains that bind you in your situation, speak out, uplift and stay ENCOURAGED. Stick with this program even when you don’t want to and watch the magic, true magic that is unveil itself. I am a single mother of two, I work and attend school for Nursing and if I can do it so can you. Be inspired today ” -Joanne, DYB10 Part 7

    Hi Darren
What impacted me the most was when one writes the traits and habits necessary to become the person you want to become. Your example of how you described your wife was helpful. When I wrote down the person I wanted to be, I saw that I fell short. What I need to do to become the person I want to become is overwhelming but not impossible.

Also, I am going to redo the 360 segment. The friends and business associated were too nice. Nothing I can work on. We all know that is not true! Now I am going to send this to my husband and my ACN upline and I am sure it will be made very clear to me where I might make some improvements in my life.

Thank you so much for this life changing program.

    Regards
    Sally

[DARREN HARDY] Sally, I’m so glad you are taking the initiative to re-do your 360! Instead of taking your friends’ easy comments and simply going through the motions, you have decided to truly seek a better you by going the harder, but more worthy, route. Kudos and good luck!!! :)

    Darren;
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
This process has helped me so much thus far that the success that I am generating from it is making it harder to keep up. Great problem! I will catch up on the weekend. (one of my written goals)
The 360 veiw and becoming the person that you need to be to achieve your goals have helped my greatly. I have discovered that I always was that person but was holding him back. It simply is a matter of letting myself expect success and that I deserve it for helping others.

Thank You Darren this is turning out to be eye opening. It all started with asking myself What did I really accomplish over the course of 10 years…I could only really see back over the last year…as far as growth wise…I grew more in 2009 because I was working on growing But I had not before 2009…Not intentionally like 2009 and now….So With this proccess and your mentoring I am intentionally planning goals for MY future…

The 360 degree view was eye opening as well…Funny how we view ourselves one way and others view us another way but for me…the answers were things I knew I needed to work on because I had been over the last year growing…But knowing what I need to do in my head and hearing it from another person, writing the words down and then reading those words I wrote….yeah….that makes it real!!!

Thank you this is priceless mentoring…. :) ~ Kim Neal

[DARREN HARDY] My pleasure, Kim! And you are right, sometimes we just need to hear our flaws from the people we value most to truly make it real! :)

    Darren,

WOW! Yesterday I listened to the CD from Success Magazine Feb. 2010; it is all right on track. You asked today on the 4th week Update video, “what has been the best part of this process for you?” “It is my right to have dreams; I have forgotten that, I have been too busy doing work, doing life…not living it! I have forgotten me, my dreams, and I am scared; I know it is not too late…THANK YOU THANK YOU! Thank you for this opportunity and wake up call.” This gift, this course needs to be a requirement to graduate High School or a part of pre-marriage counseling. This is an amazing gift; I am so grateful to you, Mr. Hardy.

This has been awesome for me. I have learned alot about myself, my strengths (which I didn’t think I had any) my weaknesses. I found it very interesting when I asked others the questions and their responses. Enlightening!! I am so enjoying this and really look forward to each Tues. and Thurs. night. I am also doing the Dave Ramsey FPU, so it’s been a very eye opening January for me. Much needed in all areas. Thank you for sharing with all of us!! It really is Priceless!!!

Darren, I am getting so much clarity on my strenghs and weakneses I am really realizing where I need to focus on my career to succeed in my current position. Also, the Life Assessment week was something very amazing because I now see clearly where I am lacking… and one thing that I found out that I am lacking in Lifestyle, business, financial, and physical. I now know why my life is not “rolling” the way I would like it to be. Thanks so much.

  7. Mark says:

The entire process has made an impact on me. Each phase has caused me to reflect and really think hard about the questions being asked, and how I feel about my life and what I want out of it. However, if I had to choose just one aspect of this program that has made the biggest impact so far I would have to say that the Magic Factor is the one. This is the first time I have ever thought about the type of person I would need to become in order to achieve my goals. I’ve always focused on the tasks of getting to the goal and wondered why I never got there and why I would loose hope along the way. By focusing first on the person I need to become the goal then becomes a natural part of that effort and I am no longer trying to achieve something that is in conflict with who I am. That has made the biggest impact so far.

Darren, thank you for being willing to share this program. It is amazing to me that you are willing to put so much effort into creating this program and then share it with all of us for free. The first couple of sessions I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and to find out that we would have to pay something in order to complete the program. Well, you have made a true believer out of me. Thanks again!

[DARREN HARDY] Great point, Mark! By focusing on WHO you are FIRST, you will be paving a much better path to reaching your goals. And don’t worry this is ALL free, there is no other shoe to drop! :)

The 360 review was probably one of the most profound experiences of my adult life, no doubt about it!!!

That project took me entirely out of my comfort zone. And I, like you, am still reeling from some of the information I received back. In the spirit of playing full out I insisted on brutal honesty, and that is exactly what I got (why do I have the distinct impression that certain people had been waiting for that opportunity?). As much as I wish I could dispute some of it, or say that I was shocked by it, I can totally see the truth in all of it. Through this process I have been confronted with the root cause of nearly all of my shortcomings (fear). Also, I found it amazing how similar the feedback was from totally different sources.

Bottom line – the value of that brutally honest information received is absolutely invaluable. This is information that is vital to my future success, and how else could i have gotten it? It certainly would not have been volunteered, at least not in such a strait forward fashion, without my having asked for it. Totally worth a little bit of discomfort.

All in all, this is a great program. Much more intensive and totally different than anything I have been involved with in the past. I am grateful to be involved in it.

  9. Jean Albert says:

Biggest kick-in-the-head was struggling through the first section, successes and failures of the last decade (10 years). It really, really impacted me negatively. I got depressed of all the time that past by without progress, actually back-slided. My mentor got me out of the “funk”, but it took a couple of days. I really have to “focus” on today & the future and not dwell on the past, looking at the most the past year, not the past decade.

[DARREN HARDY] Jean, it is all too easy to fall into a “funk” after facing a less than desirable past. Use that knowledge of how the past made you feel to push through and design yourself a much brighter next 10 years! I am so very glad you came back and are still here pushing through with the rest of us!

Hi every one , what an amazing time we are having, pulling all this information out of our selves …. It’s made me think the last few weeks, that may be the ladder i started to climb some 30 years ago, may hav ebeen the wrong one ? , i can see other ladders , that now are of more interest. so how do i jump from one to the other, that is going to be a challenge, as where i work , want me to go in this direction, and i am working toward another direction, i think they are going to loose out, as i have learn’t so much from all this, that there is now no turning back.
its been amazing so far, lets see where this takes us all in the next few weeks.

PS, i hope the work sheets will be posted somewhere on the site permanently for others to access at a later stage, it will be a very usefull resource, as i am posting all the updates and videos on my blog, for others to find.

    Make it a fantastic week,

    Cheers from Auckland NZ

    Hi Darren!

Thanks so much for this AMAZING process. I am so grateful that I have been able to participate in this process, in the setting of my own home, over an extended period of time and at no cost. This is such a blessing–thanks again. Although I have always set goals, I have never done it properly. I may have applied aspects of what you are sharing, but the way you approach it as a process beginning with how I view my life and want it lived to how I get there has simplified goal setting and made it much less daunting. The 360° view was so much fun–my friends were afraid to answer, but I was eager to hear what they had to say. And although I wouldn’t have said what they did, I knew they were right when I read their answers. Can’t wait to see myself transformed. This will now be something I do for the rest of my life.

    Have a great day!

Darren, by far the most earth-shaking exercise for me was the 360 Review! I asked my son, daughter, and husband. Surprisingly, they all agreed for the most part on my weaknesses, which I could relate to; that acknowledgment, painful as it might be, will make a tremendous difference in how I will live my life in the future. It’s like dying and reviewing my life, even more so than the obituary, because it’s from a point-of-view not my own. Even more revealing were the strengths they identified. Each person saw different strengths. It was amazing! Thank you so much for this life-changing process.

[DARREN HARDY] Linda, seems the 360 Review was eye opening for many! Asking others for their honest opinion definitely isn’t easy but is such an enlightening experience, isn’t it? Thanks so much for sharing!

Linda~ It is eye opening as I was asking questions the strengths that they listed…My Husband said one of my strenghts is the willingness to try new things…I thought that I was shy in that area actually prior to a year ago, I used to be really bad…we would move to a new place and it used to take me a good year to step out of my comfort zone…but I guess I have a little bit of an adventurous spirit and a gypsy soul….I do NOT like Boring and sitting still!! LOL That can be both good and sometimes it can work against me…now I need to harness that quality and use it to help and focus more closely on what it is I truly want… ~ Kim

I will admit, it took me a while to ask 3 people (360 Review). For starters, I wasn’t sure who to ask to give good honest answers (without sugar-coating). So finally I did, and with the first person alone, I must say I was in tears. I asked everyone to be honest if even if it hurt my feelings. Explained that this is much needed to better myself. Not a bad thing, but because it was a serious eye-opener. There were bad habits that I had that I never paid any attention to and I thought I was doing the right thing all this time. I was in shock but I feel much better now, knowing what changes need to be made. And to make this a learning process, the first person I asked, ask the same questions for me to answer pertaining to him (my

    Hi Darren,
WOW this process has been tremendous. I love motivational listening and Success Magazine. I make it a daily part of my day. This is my turning point and what a great time to have these materials available to us. I listen to your weekly reviews and I’m really devbasted that the material will not be available after the last week. I’d love to download this entire program, especially the videos to my ipod. Is this posssible. I’d love to review and retain this information at later dates in my 10 year success plan. Please let me know. By the way. I’m an Oceanside, CA. resident. Howdy neighbor.

[DARREN HARDY] Kevin, don’t worry, you can simply save the emails for future reference once the program is complete. Just remember to download the worksheets somewhere safe because they won’t be available when we are through.

My eye opening experience- January was the best January ever! This was the ah ha moment – no-one changed towards us – we did not make more money – we did not win anything or were given anything- WE DID! January is usually tough for us – we do not feel inspired and for the last ten years we started off our year on a down.

We sat (Jim & myself on date night) last night and talked how quickly that it is happening for us. Meaning we feel the get up and go each day – we see how the plan is moving into the next level. people and opportunities are appearing, the teachers are showing up, the list has check marks, we are doing this. Mind you we are working all the time – loving it but we are pushing forward.

You see Darren three months ago our financial problems were killing our marriage and destroying our family – we love each other so much we are willing to do anything to fix it. So we take this work very seriously, as well we have been 60 days into Harv Ekerts millionaire course as well – we have combined efforts. Than we applied this months success information from Dave Ramsey and we keep going.

As they say – when the student is ready the teachers arrive. That is our eye opening moments – looking forward to February. Thank you.

I personally had my turning point in November – and I owe you much gratitude for being there with your tools to help me through change my life!

    Darren,

First, thank you for this opportunity to participate in this 8 week course for free! I hope many people are able to become VERY financially successful from this program, because I feel like we are loosing the middle class in this country and all our money is going overseas. But enough of that!

This program has helped me re-evaluate my goals to a deeper level. I have to say that I have been very successful in my life because I intuitively know a lot of what you are teaching. However, I have never written it down and I am not rich yet. I now have a two year plan and the renewed confidence that I can do it! The only part of my wheel that is flat is FINANCIAL.

Best to you and thanks again!

First of all Thanks for putting this together. It is really an eye-opener for myself and definitely for other as well. Being in flow with day to day routine, one tends to forget his/her ambitions and dreams in life and then regret at the last moment. In 2009, I have been analyzing myself and my life as it was not what I wanted it to be. But once I started focusing on it, ways have been opening for me to plan things to change that. This designing was the one lacking in my life to have focus on what is really important and what needs to be done. THANKS VERY MUCH for this.

Question: WKSheet 10# I have been following this since day 1 and this is my first post as now I am stuck at the MAGIC Factor. Though you have given example but to put under each goal should it be different or the same things can come up in all goals. Need Guidance on how to do that.

[DARREN HARDY] Tanveer, I was asked this same question earlier in the program by K.G. and explained it this way: Your goals are YOUR goals, not mine.

The 360 View has been amazing. I didn’t stop at 3 people; I’ve asked a good sized group and am planning on asking several more. I was aware of some of what has come out in this exercise but some of it was a total blind spot for me. Wow. The feedback is absolute gold and I’m already using it to make positive changes in how I approach life and relationships. Thank you for your mentorship. I look forward to meeting you in person in the next year or so.

This experience has been enlightening to say the least.

If there is one aspect that has really made an impact on me it is describing the person I need to become. Listing the qualities of the “new me” are exciting, a bit frightening (in not wanting to fail in becoming the new me) and inspiring.

Thank you again. I look forward to the weeks ahead.

    Hi Darren

Halfway through: wow and thank you. I’ve spent lots of time in recent months and years feeling dissatisfied, knowing I’m capable of more but struggling to find something to get really passionate about to turn into a dream that I can wholeheartedly chase.

I’m ready to make a change and your program, taking me step-by-step through a defined process helping me to understand what’s important to me, is exactly what I needed. I’ve taken the commitment pledge to heart, am up to date on the worksheets and have started to integrate some of what you’ve helped me to articulate into my daily life. By this Friday I’ll have attended my second toastmasters meeting and will have made contact with the university about restarting the bachelor degree I abandoned a decade and my son’s lifetime ago.

The dream remains a little murky and I’m scared of what’s to come, but it’s in a good way that I’m looking forward to.

The element that I’ve really appreciated is the structure and discipline associated with the process! Success, however one defines it, doesn’t just happen, it requires discipline and application. And both of these are difficult but as you keep pointing out in each week’s wrap-up video, it gets easier, the more one builds this discipline into our daily routine.

Thanks Darren providing not just the thought leadership but the structure that enables us to win at life!

Darren for myself the most memorable piece has been the obituary along with the vision and mission statement. They have been most the memorable because they have been the “MOST CHALLENGING” for all my life since the age of 12 working to help the family budget and working to just eat and pay the bills and support a terrific family of 4 girls and now at 51 looking for “TRUE PASSION”. That desire that day of waking up and “LOOKING FORWARD” to serving others and living as Zig says to find that need and fill it and “BELIEVE” in what I am selling and what I represent, will come to me now from this process. Dale Carnegie said a person who does not change does not grow, man is their a lot of growth coming, because there are about to be a lot of changes in myself and how “DREAMS”, PASSIONS, VISIONS and MISSIONS will now be lived out to the BHAG in my life.

    Darren,

Though I’m a little behind and am waiting for some 360 responses (but the one I’ve received has been enlightening and just the asking of another person to do this is a very positive, bonding experience), so far the whittling down process to determine your Top 3 Goals for the next 10 years was revealing and surprising. The exercise helped me focus on the big picture while realizing that I’ll have to start doing little things 1s to acheive those goals. But overall, this is a great program. Writing the obituary has been a challenge, but the story of what happened to Nobel is such an eye-opener, making the exercise a natural process and not such a morbid thing to do. Thanks for such a great program.

Hi Darren, It’s me again. I haven’t mastered the art of Tweeting, and don’t want to post-pone my question any longer. One problem I’ve had with developing my long term goals is that I am currently employed in a govenrment job, but my long-term goal is to be a successful private investor/business owner. I have begun the process with setting up entities and investing, but the goals for the job are far different from those of obtaining financial freedom. So, when I’m writing down my “Business” goals, I’m listing skills, tasks, etc., for two different things. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Thanks!

The obituary was the key thing for Jim – it was the first time he had to reflect back and look at where he was going and becoming.

For me – stream lining all the goals into the top 3 – and adding my personal values to the goal – that made sense. Before my goals were not in lined with my values so I resisted the process. NOW it is clear and well EASY.

Darren, first and foremost, THANK YOU for sharing your wisdom with us here in this format. Until now, all of the goal setting instruction I’ve had has been very vague. Goal setting can be like eating an elephant and how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time! Your program breaks that elephant down into manageable bites. For the first time, I’m seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. The 360 wasn’t that bad for me. I chose 3 people from different areas of my life (a co-worker, a family member and a friend) because I knew they would have totally different experiences with me from each other. They all gave me completely different answers, yet none of them surprised me. This told me two things: first, apparently all this personal development work I’ve been doing has gotten me to a place where I can be honest with myself and secondly, since THEY were the ones who told me these things, I know that I’m not getting away with anything! Accountability is good!

My gratitude goes to Darren Hardy for giving this process to us all so freely and for the video pep-talks. Hi Darren, you asked us to comment on what was most povoking/meaningful of the sequences so far. It took my people a little while to return the 360 questions with their answers, but when I read them, they shocked (and saddened, I might add) me. I had completed all of my 2010 and thru 2020 goals at that point, but what I realized I needed to do, which I was not even aware of, trumphed all of the other goals. I immediately bumped them all down a notch and sent a different goal roaring to the top. It is more important to me than any of those I had thought of on my own previous to their commenets. At Mass just that morning, Father said that God wanted us to have huge blessings NOW in our lives, and even though it hurt to read these comments about me, even written with love, I recognized it as a true blessing to change what I was unaware of about ME! Thanks very much.

Darren, great course. I think the whole process rather than one item is what is excellent. It is easy to write goals, harder to lay out an action plan and harder still to allow someone to hold you accountable. The challenges you lay out to ask others their opinion of your strengths and weaknesses is excellent. Thank you for being willing to share so that we can gain such insight of ourselves.

The course and worksheets have been great, they have really made me think and stretch myself. The one thing that I realized and have been wowed about is how my 2010 goals link to my 10 year plan, and the action steps that I am now creating is the most exciting part as they are the baby steps towards these goals (lots of motivation in those steps!).

Darren are you going to discuss active vs. passive actions, and distraction control?

    Hey Darren,

I just had a few questions. For the questions pertaining to business, companies and industry, I don’t have a job or a career that I can analyze and refer. Seeing as I am still in high school and haven’t begun my career yet, is there something else I can use in my situation to input into these areas. Also, for the 360 analysis, I have asked my family, and my grandparents, but I need a third party to ask. I want to ask my friends, but every time I do they don’t take me seriously, they just make a joke out of it and frankly, it wastes time. Is it mandatory to have three people for the analysis?

[DARREN HARDY] Skip the questions that don’t apply to your particular situation. The questions are to prod and prompt your mind. If they don’t apply, move on to the others. It’s good to have three if you can. Ask other family members, teachers, coaches, friends of your parents – anyone who knows you well and will be direct and honest.

A little over a year ago i let go from a 11 year executive career. Fortunately i was working on a plan B, with ACN – and that has been awesome! It was great hearing from you in December at our last convention. I will tell you i started this process about 2.5 weeks late, but was able to set aside enough time to catch up!!! Talk about thought provoking questions!!! I love this – that being said what i have gained the most so far is recognizing how much i have grown over the past year personally – most of 2009 was spent on my own personal development – and honestly i had no idea how much growth i have had. In addition referencing my goals against my core values was something i have never done before and it was very clear to me why i have had struggled in the past. I am so excited about working with 3 people to help them with the characteristics i need to get better at!!

    Thanks again,

Now, I know I am on the right track because I have also been thinking about who I need to become in order to be the successful person that I imagine myself to be.

The biggest impact on me has been the 360degree View – WOW! Very difficult – I am a stay at home mom (14 year career thus far), so most comments were “personal”, not professional…..having your character questioned (“attacked”)was very difficult, but I learned my core values and confidence were not shining through…. what I was thinking and trying to show was not necessarily the same as what was being percieved….ouch! So glad I have close friends who love me and feel safe enough to share their thoughts and perceptions. I will definitely be making some changes to my behaviors and actions so I am not misunderstood in the future. I want my values line up with my conduct.

Most importantly, I was given affirmation of the “good in me”…. all the positive feedback helps me to continue to grow in love and give in love. Glad to hear that people see many, many valuable characteristics and qualities in me.

I must start this off by saying thank you to all of you. I have had some things happen that we call “LIFE” and it was not part of Darrens tools or learning’s – or my plan. In fact they happened yesterday to be compounded today – in the past I would act differently but because Ihave change dto become more successful and to achieve my goals I choose a different direction.

I will use my learning’s and say that the decision not to react and allow this to happen is first. That I have the choice to go and sit and read Darrrens teachings – trust in you all and allow this process to involve. To be patient today – to breath.

You see worksheet #11, under attribute – I put becoming more diplomatic – realistic. I got this from my review for I can-be harsh – inpatient and well not very diplomatic. Who shows this to me – certain people & circumstances – (that just happened yesterday & today) and under HOW – I need to take these situations and be polite, realistic and calm. The goal becoming debt free – I am focused.

So I am new to this change – I went for a longer walk. I made a decision to deal with the situations as best as I can – I put forth 100% effort to solve a problem in a polite – diplomatic and kind manner. I have a coffee while listen to a new song – “I gotta feeling” – writing to you that this is freaking hard but hey I see the behaviour and I can look at myself and read through your posts – we are all in this together. Thank you

    Thank you

[DARREN HARDY] Stay strong, Tracy! So sorry to hear that you were thrown a curve ball yesterday, but the fact that you are still here today, still on the path to improving yourself and your life, tells me a lot about your character. Stay the course and you WILL achieve SUCCESS!

    Darren,

Took me a couple days to finally get a chance to leave a post. However, I finally got my ah ha moment when I was working on the last worksheet.

My ah ha was: I CAN FINALLY SEE THAT MY GOALS ARE OBTAINABLE.

For years, I always knew what I wanted, but until I had to sit down and write my goals and think of what I need to do to get there, I really didn’t think it was possible for me to actually quit my job, pay off my student loan, buy a house and finally start my craft business all within the next 10 years.

Now that I have a plan in motion, as long as I stay on the right path that this course has helped me developed, I see no reason why I can’t live the life I want!

Even though I have struggled with work, online business, family and setting time aside for myself to work on this process, I never gave up and I can finally say or paraphrase what Mr. Rohn said, I can see the PROMISE, so now it is less difficult to PAY THE PRICE.

Thank you so much Darren for showing me the way!!

  58. Brian McElfish says:

I have to say this process has been especially eye-opening for me. I have started a home-based business and it has failed miserably to say the least. This goal program was probably the final piece I have needed to pull all of the information I have been learning over the last 12 months to make me a successful independent business owner.

The biggest impact came when we wrote our vision statement. I actually had to go to Microsoft Word to finish writing the obituary because of all the things I would like to accomplish and the detail that was pouring out of me. But through that particular worksheet, I was amazed at the clarity of my vision statement. It came through clear and concise. The biggest impact on me was the fact that it clarified my entire life since I left college. I understood why I chose the profession I have, teaching, and why I have felt so unfulfilled in it for the past 15 years. It made everything make sense and gave me new purpose in my new choice of business. I can perform a similar function of teaching there, but without the constraints that come from public education.

I almost got a speeding ticket driving home that afternoon. I wanted to tell my wife so badly. She read it and said it was terrific. And I explained how I felt about it and my past and future, she fully agreed with me. It made sense and I’m encouraging her to go through the same process to at least define herself, since she loves what she’s already doing.

Thanks for this. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I needed it and desire to learn more.

[DARREN HARDY] LOVE the enthusiasm, Brian, but speeding tickets are not part of the process! LOL! Thanks for sharing and keep up the awesome progress!
